4 Best Uses of Coconut Oil - Starter Tips

Coconut oil is an entirely wondrous thing and its list of uses are endless

But if you are reading this short post for beginner tips, then these 4 little tips are a great start!

Cooking

Use cold-pressed extra virgin organic coconut oil when cooking at high temperatures or to add flavour to a meal.

Coconut oil can be safely used when cooking with high temperatures as it has a higher smoking temperature than other mono unsaturated or polyunsaturated oils. Coconut oil likes seafood a lot more than red meat, so best to start with fish or prawns.

Hair care

Just before you are about to wash your hair, apply coconut oil to the ends of your hair lightly and focus on any areas you believe are damaged. Then shampoo and condition your hair as normal.

Skin care

Use a dollop of coconut oil to remove make up and any impurities before cleansing.  Massage coconut oil into your body and hands as a luxurious moisturiser. Carry a small tub of coconut oil with you during the day and use as a soothing and inexpensive lip balm.

Stress relief

Coconut oil makes for a great massage oil to use on yourself or others. If using on yourself, massage a generous amount of coconut oil into your feet to relax. Be sure to wipe your feet off before walking on slippery surfaces.

Science Notes

Organic Extra Virgin (EV) Coconut Oil is simply RAW, unprocessed coconut oil. The oil is a by product of cold pressing the coconut flesh.

Coconut oil is a medium-chain fatty acid or medium-chain triglyceride and it acts as an emollient to soften and moisturise skin.

It is easily absorbed by the skin and is full of lauric acid, which is a collagen supporting compound.

Cold processed oil is processed to a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees celcius – retaining the natural anti-oxidants and preserving the distinct aroma and flavor of coconut.
