Welcome to Cairns and Far North Environment Centre
Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) is a non-profit organisation that ensures the protection of the unique, tropical and special natural heritage of Far North Queensland.
We also collaborate with other conservation organisations that concentrate on environmental issues of state and national importance.
Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC) was established in 1983 and is an incorporated association.
We act as conservation council for the region from Cardwell north to Torres Strait and from the east coast to the Gulf of Carpentaria, including the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage Areas.
