Welcome to FareShare

FareShare's mission is to inspire and empower action on food rescue and hunger, which also diverts surplus, edible food from landfill, reducing greenhouse pollution.

We rescue surplus, quality food that would otherwise go to waste and cook it into free, nutritious meals for people in need.

In Melbourne, with the help of 900 volunteers, FareShare cooks more than 5,500 free meals a day for charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks.

In October 2018, we opened a new production kitchen in Brisbane, as part of an exciting collaboration with Foodbank.

Fareshare accepts food donations in bulk from supermarkets, food retailers, wholesalers and distributors, as well as caterers (private and corporate). We are open from 8am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday for drop offs and can collect large food donations directly through our fleet of refrigerated vehicles.

Although we cannot collect food donated from individuals or households, we are happy to receive good quality, unopened grocery items within their ‘use by’ dates.
