Welcome to Goongerah Environment Centre Office (GECO)
Goongerah Environment Centre Office (GECO) is an independent grass roots community organisations dedicated to the protection and preservation of the remaining old growth forests of the region.
To achieve our mission, we use a variety of strategies including education, raising public awareness, political lobbying, non violent direct action, citizen science and forest monitoring against logging.
Living and working on the land of the Gunaikurnai and Bidewell and Monero people, we acknowledge the thousands of years of their ongoing custodianship of the land and pay respect to elders past and present.
Founded in 1994 in the small town of Goongerah in far East Gippsland, Victoria, GECO continues with its mission to conserve East Gippsland’s forests.
