Homemade Baby Wash

Homemade Baby Wash

¼ cup Castile soap

¼ cup Organic extra virgin coconut oil

¼ cup Water

2 drops Lavender essential oil

  1. Mix together all of the ingredients listed above, and store in a foaming soap dispenser
  2. Use to gently wash your baby’s skin once a week

There is no need to use it more frequently than that because babies don’t get dirty. As your child gets older, you may wish to bathe them more frequently and can then increase the number of soapy washes per week.

This baby wash will only contain products approved by you. There will be no hidden nasties such as parabens or sulphites that could irritate baby’s skin or pollute the planet.

Science Notes

Castile soap can be bought in bulk to save money, packaging and transport fuel.

Choosing organic, local ingredients will reduce the environmental impact of this product even further.

The lavender essential oil can be replaced with any other essential oil. Lavender is said to be a relaxing smell which helps babies to sleep which is why it is suggested for this homemade baby wash.

If you would prefer, you can choose not to include any essential oil in the baby wash.

Related Tip

Reuse a soap dispenser. By doing this you do not have to go out and buy another.

Make sure that you wash the dispenser out thoroughly and with natural cleaning agents.
