How to Recycle Construction Waste
How to Recycle Construction Waste
Building
Updated 5 March 2018 01:32 PM
Construction waste includes almost any product used for building and other construction. Ranging from concrete, tiles, doors, glass, bricks and metal to timbers, fittings and fixtures and white goods.
The second hand building materials market is thriving. Many of these products like weatherboards, bricks, boards, fencing, wall timbers, doors, windows and metal can be sold or given away in exchange for simply taking the products away.
There are many specialist online sites for pretty much any household renovation item. You can sell, buy or swap appliances, bathroom and laundry needs, tiles, construction materials of any kind, construction equipment and furniture.
If you don't want to take your own construction waste away or resell it, onsite skip bins are readily available for disposal of construction waste and most skip bin companies sort, recycle and on-sell construction waste.

Science Notes
Tons of construction and demolition waste are produced in Australia every year. More than half of it is recovered and recycled and this number is improving all the time, but a lot still goes to landfill.
Deconstruction, the business of carefully dismantling pieces of a building to use again is becoming increasingly common. Deconstruction is an excellent strategy to offset your building budget.
Related Tip
If you are building, renovating or doing a DIY project for your home, use second hand materials when possible. Using second materials is cost effective, environmentally sensitive, and gives you a wider range of decorating and construction options.
