How to Recycle Skateboards, Scooters and Rollerblades

Before you throw out old Skateboards, Scooters and Rollerblades that you or your children no longer need, think about all the children that could get hours of fun from your unwanted goods

Ask around your social group, neighbourhood or work for anyone that could want a skateboard, scooter or rollerblades. If you don't know of anyone, then posting your goods online may find you someone who would like them.

Skateboards can be repurposed into other things with great success. You can turn your old skateboard into a shelf to spice up at a room. All of the wheels on these items can also be saved to replace broken wheels on bins, toys or ironing boards.

Op shops may also take your goods that are in good condition, so check what materials your local op shop accepts before donating.

Science Notes

Australia has a strong dependence on landfill as a form of waste management. Landfills can impact on air, water and land quality. In order to leave a minimal impact on the earth, it is vital that we find ways to re-use and re-purpose items to avoid them ending up in landfill.

Skateboards, scooters and rollerblades have their own impact on landfill. The items all contain plastic, which takes 1000 years to decompose in landfill.
