Mix together:1 cup of vegetable oil1 teaspoon of dishwashing detergent (If you have insecticidal soap, a teaspoon of this makes a good alternative to dishwashing detergent)
To get the best result – use the mixture immediately and repeat this process every few days or until you no longer see the aphids. Remember to wipe/spray the undersides of the leaves too, this is often where they congregate. Do not spray your plants if rain is forecast.
Aphids are soft bodied insects which can reduce your plants growth. You may have an Aphid infestation if your plants have the following symptoms: curled leaves, yellow spots and glossy leaves. This home remedy works by clogging the insects’ airways.
Before widespread use of the spray, test it on a small section of the plant first and wait 24 hours to see if there are any negative effects. What you are looking for is spotting, wrinkling or browning on leaves. The oil in the spray may be damaging for some plant varieties.
