Reuse Cardboard Boxes

Instead of throwing cardboard boxes straight into the recycling bin or compost, turn them into something fun for your little one or pets to explore.

If you have some big cardboard boxes, these can easily be turned into a toy house.  All you need to do is cut out some windows and a door, and then use a marker pen to draw on some details like a house number and door knocker.

You can use cardboard boxes to make pretty much anything - including toy kitchens, dolls houses and race tracks. There are lots of great ideas and tutorials online - as much as your imagination can handle.

If you have a great Cardboard Box Tip, add it to this one and we will update the photo.

Science Notes

Almost 90 per cent of Australian households recycle cardboard. By using cardboard boxes as toys before recycling, you can reduce the number of new toys bought. You also give the cardboard box a new lease of life, before it is eventually recycled.

Cats and puppies love cardboard boxes - as playthings or temporary homes.

Cereal boxes can also be transformed into a children’s toy. They can be made into guitars and other musical instruments. The cardboard can also be reused  to make DIY crafts such as airplanes and stencils.
