Hey Chelsea, I guess you know you wouldn't put this cleaner on old furniture!! I have two favourites: 1) For scratches - rub walnuts on any scratches you want to get rid of. Walnuts natural oils work brilliantly. 2) For cleaning - mix one lemon with a tablespoon each of water and olive oil. Shake in a jar and strain. Apply to a microfibre cloth and clean away! I have a really old recycled timber table, does anyone know if I would be able to use this kind of cleaner on such a table? I love the thought of making my own cleaning stuff but the majority of my furniture is old recycled timber pieces (and they are very precious to me), so I am scared to use anything like this on it! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Monday, 15 June 2015
Lemon and vinegar are excellent broad based household cleaners. They are both acidic, are excellent bleaching agents and have anti fungal, anti bacterial qualities which act as effective sanitisers and antiseptics. Lemons also have the advantage of their natural and fruity scent. The addition of salt puts your cleaner into the double duty category and gives it that slightly abrasive quality you are looking for to deal with tougher stains.
Use this cream on a damp cloth to clean the oven, fridge, sink and non-wood worktops. Rinse and dry thoroughly. If marks appear rinse again and polish with a dry clean cloth. This cream is also excellent for cleaning bathroom tiles, toilets, sinks and mirrors. Dilute with an equal amount of coconut oil or olive oil, mix well and use as a hand-wash. No chemicals and no artificial fragrances - and it leaves your skin soft too.
