Organic extra virgin olive oil is the most eco friendly way to treat your baby’s cradle cap. Store bought medicated shampoos are often full of harsh chemicals that will not only be bad for your baby’s skin, but will also be bad for the planet. Before your baby’s bath, massage a small amount of extra virgin organic olive oil into your baby’s scalp. The olive oil will soak into the affected area and help to loosen any flakes, whilst also moisturising the skin underneath. After fifteen minutes, take a soft brush and gently comb over the affected area, this should remove any loose skin.Rinse your baby’s hair with clean water, and gently towel dry afterwards.
Olive oil is hypoallergenic and is much less likely to cause reactions on your baby’s skin than any products containing chemicals. Olive oil contains vitamins A and E, and helps to lock moisture into skin. Choose extra virgin olive oil because this is the most natural form available. This means it contains a higher number of antioxidants and goodness than refined olive oil. Buying organic olive oil means that no pesticides have been used to produce the product. Pesticides can be very damaging to the environment, and should be avoided wherever possible.
For a simple, but very effective teething toy, fold up a clean washcloth, and soak it in water until it’s damp, then place it, still folded, into the freezer and leave for a few hours.
