Simple Coconut Oil Tooth Paste

Simple Coconut Oil Tooth Paste

This simple recipe is an excellent teeth cleaner and really highlights just how good cleaners do not have to be complicated.

2 tablespoons Coconut Oil

2 tablespoons Bicarbonate Soda

(Optional) 1/4 teaspoon of Peppermint Oil to taste

Mix the oil and bicarbonate soda into a smooth paste in a small container. Add peppermint oil if you prefer the taste, although it is absolutely fine without.

You only need the smallest amount of toothpaste on your brush - about the size of a small pea. Anything more is wasted. How you brush your teeth is the most important thing.  Brush for 2 minutes in small circular motions around your teeth. Remember to brush your tongue and gums as well.

Science Notes

Coconut oil is the most excellent body cleaner. It is antibacterial, antifungal and antimocrobial.

Baking soda helps cleaning and whitening your teeth as it is slightly abrasive, alkaline and is an excellent bleaching agent.

Related Tip

You can also add French Green Clay to this recipe. Just halve the amount of bicarbonate soda and replace it with French Green Clay.> > French Green Clay absorbs toxins and dirt in your mouth. It is alkaline and very high in trace minerals so it adds minerals at the same time as cleaning.
