The Worst Possible Foods You Can Eat

Have  you ever wondered what are the worst possible foods you can eat?

Here is the go to list of 'foods' that pretty much all the nutrition experts absolutely wouldn’t touch:

  • Anything in a packet called a 'Hotdog'
  • Soda or soft drink, particularly anything labelled ‘diet’
  • Anything that looks like it could glow in the dark
  • Foods that contain hydrogenated oils
  • Margarine
  • White bread products
  • Frozen French fries

You will notice that all of the foods on this list are highly processed, which is essentially the root of their unhealthy nature - although in some cases, it's hard to work out what "food' specifically has even been processed.

Highly processed foods put additional pressure on your body and lead to illness and disease so try to limit the amount of refined and processed foods you consume.

Another good rule of thumb - if there are more 'Agents', 'Additives' and Preservatives on the ingredients list than actual food, put it back on the shelf.

Science Notes
Processed foods are typically cooked, canned, frozen or dehydrated.

These products often come in packets, boxes, containers or jars and because of the requirement for long shelf life, have often been mixed with preservatives, colouring, flavouring agents, fats, sodium and sugars.

Related Tip
Often, in an effort to offer packaged versions of 'good' food, you end up with something worse than the thing you are trying to avoid.  A good example of this is some of the pre-packaged gluten free cooking products. Make sure you read the ingredients list first.
