Welcome to WAW Handplanes
Catching waves in pristine oceans is at the heart of everything we do at Wave After Wave. We’re an Australian bodysurfing brand committed to reducing our impact on the Earth.
Founded by Rikki Gilbey and based in Sydney, Australia, WAW handplanes are handmade from sustainable, recycled and reclaimed materials so that you can get barrelled without leaving a trace.
Handplanes are lightweight and easy to carry anywhere. They’re designed to enhance the bodysurfing experience by providing more lift and less drag, so both beginners and experienced bodysurfers can catch waves for longer and go faster.
We make two kinds of premium handplanes that will have anyone catching waves in no time.
The WAW BadFish is made from recycled ocean plastics collected from the Great Barrier Reef– all hand washed and shredded by Eco Barge Clean Seas before being moulded into high-quality handplanes by the guys at Toolcraft.
WAW Timber handplanes are naturally buoyant and long-lasting. We plant a tree for every timber handplane sold to minimise our environmental impact – 5000+ trees and counting.
Both models include Yulex hand straps made from FSC and Rainforest Alliance-certified plant-based rubber. They’re adjustable and fit all hand sizes.
