In 2012, four Australian soldiers were part of a peace keeping mission in Timor-Leste. The poverty and desperate need they encountered amongst the people there was heartbreaking.
They happened upon some coffee plants growing wild in the mountain regions- crops of “Hybrid de Timor”, a special strain of Arabica and Robusta coffee plants bred naturally together over time.
An idea was born, and eventually a company- harnessing the trading of coffee as a means to support a community. Growers receive fair prices.
