Wooden Wick Candle Care from Nocturna

Wooden Wick Candle Care from Nocturna

These tips will help you to ensure your candles burn well, last longer and smell fabulous

At Nocturna, we use sustainably sourced coconut and soy wax with sustainably grown, natural wooden wicks, but these tips apply to any candle.

  1. If you can, use a lighter or bbq lighter to ignite candle
  2. Burn your candle until the liquid wax pool reaches each side of the glass
  3. Keep your candle wick trimmed to 1/2 centimetre
  4. Snap off excess wick with your fingers when the candle is cold or use a wick trimmer
  5. Make sure you keep candle wax free of any loose wick trimmings
  6. Try not to burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time
  7. If you notice your flame is too small, extinguish, wait 5 minutes and re light.
  8. If you notice your candle flame is too high, extinguish the flame, trim the wick and re-light.

Science Notes
Use candles with wooden wicks to create a very subtle, woody, smokey scent and a gentle crackling sound, resembling a wood fire.

Never move a burning candle in a glass case as the candle glass can be extremely hot. Once extinguished, leave to cool completely prior to moving.

Related Tip

Please never leave a candle unattended and always ensure it is positioned away from pets & children. Make sure you position your candle on a stable, heat resistant surface, away from curtains and drafts.
