Spring Hill Peony Farm

Located in the Central Highlands in Victoria, Spring Hill Peony Farm grows peonies for the cut flower market and plants to be sold as roots in winter. They supply the local florists in the region with the aim of reducing the amount of travel the flowers do before reaching you. They also sell at the Melbourne Farmer’s Markets and also the local Farmers’ Markets in the Macedon Ranges and Hepburn Spa Country areas.

Established as a flower farm in 2001, Peony plants begin to flower in their region at the start of November and finish towards the middle of December. They also sell the bare root of the plant in May so you can grow your own peony flowers if you live in a very cold climate, 500m above sea level minimum.

Spring Hill Peony Farm is committed to organic and sustainable practices and although an Organic Certified Farm, they aim to be. Weeds are chipped between the plants and fertilised with organic fertiliser, manure, rock dust and lime.

Floral Acts of Kindness

Floral Acts of Kindness is Australia's first flower-salvage organisation, spreading happiness by sharing the joy of creating, giving and receiving free posy jars.

Floral Acts of Kindness rescue surplus and unsold flowers that would otherwise be discarded as waste. Think of them as like a food-rescue organisation, but for flowers. Where they rescue food to feed the physically hungry, Floral Acts of Kindness rescue flowers to feed the emotionally hungry.

The fresh flowers are quality blooms sourced from local farmers and wholesalers who share their mission to make the world a kinder, happier place. Floral Acts of Kindness don’t “recycle” flowers from weddings and events, as these flowers have generally reached their peak on event day, and often been used in floral foam, which they don't use because of its toxicity to human health and the environment. The rescued flowers are also used to teach and run workshops where members of the local community learn how to upcycle flowers and turn them into beautiful gift arrangements.
