How one eco business changed supply chains

Businesses with a social agenda are in a better position than ever to make good business and have significant impact

The significance of a little soap maker can easily be missed as it's just soap, right? But the truth is that it depends on what that change is. Getting something as deeply concerning as plastic out of everyday items is something that can - and did - galvanise action for far reaching impact.

8 YEARS AGO BRIANNE WEST FROM ETHIQUE STARTED MAKING NO PLASTIC, SOLID BODY BARS. SINCE THEN, ETHIQUE HAS BECOME A GLOBAL MANUFACTURER AND DISTRIBUTOR AND HAS SINGLE HANDEDLY SAVED 8 MILLION PLASTIC BOTTLES FROM LANDFILL. (THINK SHAMPOOS, SOAPS, WASHES, CONDITIONS, LOTIONS.)

Ethique has had a massive influence on millions of people, mostly women, using zero plastic products, and led the way for other businesses - here is just 20 I found in 10 minutes -  to do the same thing, saving even more plastic bottles as they join the fray.

The simple acceptance of zero plastic body products has created at least a thousand eco businesses over the past 8 years. And 20 million plastic bottles have never been never made because of them.

Ethique literally eliminated a plastics supply chain. And everyone who uses these kinds of products, continues to change supply chains. Never think "it's just a body bar". It's not. It's part of a movement to reframe the way people think and facilitate grassroots change.

Buy your cleansers in zero plastic. There are many many beautiful soap, shampoo and cosmetics makers now making products without plastic. And the quality of the products themselves is often way less toxic than widely available commercial counterparts. Most get an Ekko Score greater than 55.
