4 Starter & 5 Extra Tips for Plastic Free July

Every year since 2011, Plastic Free July begins on 1 July and encourages people to reduce single use plastic waste for the month. In July and actually, pretty much all time, Biome Eco Stores get asked by customers where is the best place to start when giving up plastics.

FOR BEGINNERS, BIOME FOUNDER, TRACEY BAILEY RECOMMENDS PARTICIPATING IN PLASTIC FREE JULY'S TOP 4 CHALLENGE AS IT IS WELL SUPPORTED AND YOU LEARN A LOT. THE CHALLENGE IS TO STOP USING SINGLE USE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES, SHOPPING BAGS, STRAWS AND TAKEAWAY COFFEE CUPS.

For plastic free warriors and those who are up for the next challenge, Tracy has a few more recommendations to boost Plastic Free July efforts and making a lifelong commitment to reducing plastic waste by eliminating the use of other plastic disposable products and replacing them with environmentally friendly alternatives.

Tracey Bailey’s five tips to boost your Plastic Free July efforts:

  1. Swap a plastic toothbrush for a biodegradable bamboo toothbrush

  2. Swap plastic cling wrap for reusable beeswax wraps or vegan wax wraps

  3. Buy package free food from bulk wholefood suppliers and shop at farmers markets

  4. Switch to a reusable stainless-steel safety razor

  5. Make your own body care and cleaning products from natural ingredients

Biome Eco Stores, online and at physical stores have one of the biggest ranges of zero waste, closed loop products in Australia, as well as lots of tips to live more sustainably.
