A Little Climate Film Crowd Funding in Oscar Week

A Little Climate Film Crowd Funding in Oscar Week

Last hours - chug one less drink tonight and get a climate film crowdfund over the line?

What is it with us? We celebrate music, relationships, betrayal, vice, war, murder and yet the biggest single issue of our time doesn't get a guernsey. Climate Change.

There is noticeable dearth of environmentally themed films and documentaries, or even references to climate change in storylines, in Oscar nominated films this year. Looks like, once again, it’s going to be left to the impassioned pleas of Hollywood A-Listers via their over-broadcasted Oscars acceptance speeches to wedge Climate Change into the conversation. (Too cynical? #sorrynotsorry).

Even though you might not be able to influence the next big Hollywood blockbuster to tackle global warming FOR REAL, as eco-consumers you actually can help support grassroots filmmakers who are weaving climate change issues into their narrative arcs.

Among them are uni kids crew & filmmakers Archie Chew and Alicia Easaw Mamutil, who are using the backdrop of climate change in their absurd comedy set in rural Australia, all seen through the eyes of a teenage girl as she navigates her relationship with her father.  “The End, The Beginning” is in preproduction and needs a just a drop in the global film finance ocean to move into the production phase.

Check them out on Pozible. You can get involved for as little as one less cocktail this Friday night. They are only half way to their $40,000 goal and need to achieve it by midnight Saturday 16th Feb. Here's your chance to be part of making a climate difference and helping some uni kids make a difference to indifference.

UPDATE: THE FILM RAISED IT'S FUNDING.
