Alt: Living - Community, Artistry & Zero Waste

At its beating heart, Alt: Living brings together three fundamental values: sustainable living, ethically made products and support for home-grown talent

Alt: Living is a colourful hub of activity and we invite you to join us.  We are a lifestyle store born out of a conscience for the environment. We’re determined to put a dent in a throwaway society, encouraging our customers and neighbours to embrace a lifestyle that appreciates the skills and trades of local artisans while minimising impact on our precious environment.

We’re bidding adieu to factory supply chains and saying ‘bonjour’ to handmade designs from passionate artists. We’re tossing out wasteful ways of living and welcoming beautifully crafted products that can be reused, recycled and renewed. We’re bringing together like-minded people who share our philosophies for protecting this beautiful paradise we live on. Please step inside our store.

Our flagship store located in the heart of St Kilda and Alt: Living is made for design-lovin’ dwellers seeking sustainable homewares, clothing and gifts. We sell all kinds of beautiful eco products, from active wear made out of material harvested from discarded fishing nets, to natural crayons free of palm, soy or paraffin waxes, linen and bedding, we’re bringing eco-friendly products to Aussie households.

We have carefully selected suppliers who value our philosophies in ensuring products are sustainable to the environment and sourced ethically. Our suppliers know and appreciate their artisans, collaborating with them to bring one-of-a-kind designs to market.

Workshops, talks, collaborations & locals

Beyond our bricks-and-mortar shop and online store, Alt: Living continues to spruik its values in regular workshops and discussions open to the public. You can meet like minded people, learn new ways of living, collaborations, find inspiration, and above all, enjoy fun chats in our vibrant, colourful space.

We run discussions of what is at the core of our values, inviting experts like Melbourne's own The Fashion Advocate and community leaders to discuss specific topics. We also run workshops to learn new skills and techniques, or brush up on old ones. And offer the opportunity to connect with locals who are doing great things within our community.
