Be Mirvac's Lab Rat - 12 Months Rent Free to Learn How to Live Eco

If you ever wanted to be in the Truman Show, now is your chance to be in the eco version.

Even if you didn't, this is still your big chance. Mirvac are looking for a real life lab rat to live in a brand new prototype sustainable house in Melbourne and have their every movement monitored.

You'll be living the study in the name of sustainable housing science and the good news is that in this experiment, you are pretty sure to come out smarter and healthier than you went in. Better still, your work will be contributing to a much better, more sustainable future for many others.

MIRVAC INTEND TO RUN THIS YEAR LONG STUDY TO FOLLOW YOUR ENERGY USAGE WITHIN THE HOME AND BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW AVERAGE FAMILIES CONSUME ENERGY AND IN PARALLEL, MEASURE HOW THE HOUSE DESIGN AND ASSOCIATED SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY PERFORMS.

Mirvac are building the sustainable home at their Jack Road development in Cheltenham and they need a family of four to volunteer to live in it for a year.

Dubbed the first 'House with No Bills' and Mirvac will the home will be filled with the latest eco innovations like the Evergen solar and battery system (which has a CSIRO-developed intelligent energy management system) and a Schneider electric smart home automation system which has environmental sensors to control internal temperatures.

It has a number of passive solar design elements, increased roof insulation, use of LED lighting, and energy-efficient appliances.

If you would like to apply for this opportunity and are a family of four, you can apply at Mirvac before 31st January 2018. There is a video outlining what you need to do and an application form.

Mirvac say they that their future depends on acting in a sustainable way and thinking creatively about how they impact the environment and communities.

Fremantle Media are also looking for people to star in a new reality TV show about sea changers and tree changers. If you are interested in applying, head to the link. (Fremantle Media aren't supplying the property - you have to be looking for one of your own.)
