DIY Chalk Boards to Love

Chalkboards are so so easy to make and unmake if you change your mind. And you can easily convert any leftover latex or acrylic paint into chalkboard paint

Christmas gifts don't have to be things. Gift a chalkboard this year to your loved one or yourself! And remember - no one says yours has to be black or green. We found a pile of great, non black chalkboard ideas on Spanish based painter, Benjamin Moore's site and some others you might like to try as well.

You don't need to buy a specific chalkboard paint. You might be trying to match a colour you already have or you really only need to get a very small pot like a sample pot. To turn latex paint into a chalkboard, mix 2 tbsp non-sanded grout per cup of paint. For acrylic, add 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water to 1/4 cup of acrylic paint for smaller surfaces.

There are piles of diy videos online to help you create just about any shape you can imagine or for any surface. Just google it.

Remember to use non toxic paints if you are buying new paints, especially if the paint is going anywhere near a human.
