Here Comes Tesla. Truck!

Here Comes Tesla. Truck!

I have definitely been watching too many movies. There is something about Tesla's Elon Musk. Watching him unveil the new Tesla Truck and I'm expecting some head spiral and global  explosion.  He has those cool, slightly unkempt good looks reserved for high tech villains.

Even as, (whether you are a battery & electrics fan or not) he's pretty much set to save all our eco asses. Whether we are asking for help or not, Malcolm.

Elon Musk Launches Tesla TruckHere's the power (fuel) & range low down on the truck:

  • 800 KM of range
  • 0-100 in 5 seconds (Not sure why you'd be wanting that in a semi, but hey.)
  • 30 minutes for 650km of charge
  • 20% cheaper than diesel with one truck

  • 50% cheaper with 3 in convoy (Musk claims it will actually be cheaper to operate than rail, when driven in convoy)
  • Capable of doing 100kph up a 5% grade

  • The cabin is designed specifically around the driver
  • Advanced autopilot is standard (hopefully not for snoozing)
  • Central seat for driver - now you're talking - incredible that it's never been done before
  • Built in fleet management systems - no third party engineering required
  • Surround cameras for black spots
  • Apparently the thing can't jackknife
  • 1-million-mile guarantee
  • Shaped like a bullet, with a 0.36 drag coefficient, which is on par with a supercar. Gee.  (By now you have probably guessed that News Ed is not a bloke. Not that there is anything wrong with that).

You can reserve one of these beauties for $5,000 USD per truck at  Tesla and production is underway in 2019.

(Giving me just enough time to grow some cabbages.)
