We spend so much time and money on self care treatments. Let's care for ourselves a little more and ditch plastic in the bathroom. I am René Fassom from Un-Wind and I see so many beautiful zero plastic self care products in my business every day - and I get to test them all! Here are 6 simple plastic free changes anyone can make:
I always feel pampered after washing my hair, which is why this is at the top of the list! Solid shampoo bars can replace up to 6 shampoo and conditioner bottles polluting the environment. Just think about that for a second. Imagine how much you’d save the environment and your bank account, with this simple swap!
Safety Razor Hair removal is practiced in many different ways - creams, waxing, shaving, tweezing, threading. Each method has plastic-free options. But, one of the biggest shift we need to make in this department is plastic razors. Try using a reusable safety razor. They last forever, they give you a close shave and they’re just pretty!
Whatever happened to soap? Similar to shampoo bars, replacing your body wash with bar of soap is another great plastic-free alternative. Also, choosing a soap with organic ingredients would put you even closer to Mother Nature’s golden child award!
Staying hydrated should be apart of everyone’s self care routine. I don’t need to go into how great water is for us, but I will get into how it’s bottled. There are so many plastic bottle alternatives these days, there’s just no need to use plastic! Stainless steel, glass or ceramic, they are all perfect alternatives for plastic bottles. Same goes for your coffee cup, but we already know that!
So many of us use lip balm, especially in winter, so we wanted to release a natural version of maintaining plump lips. This is a beautiful balm, made even more beautiful because it's packaged in sustainably sourced timber, with a refill option!
Ensuring your self care products are also made from organic ingredients is key. Most microbeads found in cosmetics and self care products like scrubs, aren’t captured in water treatment systems so contribute to the plastic in our oceans. Opt for sugar or coffee scrubs.
