Collaborative Rewilding

A picture is truly worth a billion dot words

In January 2021, a Dutch artist, Dennie Boxem asked us if we would put a green dot on his painting. 🟢 It was a sliding doors moment for me because a collaborative dot painting has been on my mind for a while - a perfect way of illustrating the strength of collaboration and the power of grassroots change.

As an artist, @dennieboxem wanted to create an artwork that visualizes perfectly that we can do this: together. He painted David Attenborough regenerating a field occupied by electrical poles and a nuclear power plant.

"EVERY DOT COUNTS. EVERY LITTLE ACTION COUNTS, IN MAKING OUR PLANET MORE GREEN AGAIN. I OFTEN FEEL MY ATTEMPTS TO BETTER CLIMATE CHANGE ARE NEGLIGIBLE, A DROP IN THE OCEAN. THIS DEMOTIVATES. A FEELING SHARED BY MANY. THIS PAINTING IS ABOUT THAT FEELING. AND COUNTERACTING IT."

A lot of people contributed to the painting - many of them locals, adding one single green 🟢 dot and signing the back. At some point Dennie started reaching out to like minded people around the world via Instagram and came across ekko.world. He invited us to sign, which of course we gladly did virtually and we are squished in there somewhere. And then we started inviting our followers to sign as well!

As off today, there are still spaces left on the back to sign and front to add a dot. Head to @dennieboxem check his last post, write your name in the comments, and Dennie will contribute one green dot for you and write your name on the back. AND if you still haven't, watch "A Life On Our Planet" on Netflix and join the cause.
