Melbourne social enterprise and general do gooders, Goodsmiths, are running a series of wrapping stations at markets, schools and events around the centre of Melbourne in the lead up to Christmas.Instead of wrapping your own this year, you can take your gifts to Wrappaporium and get them wrapped in rescued paper or fabric. How cool is that? Goodsmiths’ goal is to wrap 10,000 presents with unique and beautiful re-purposed wrapping materials, so you might want to make yours 10 of them.Wrappaporium are at the markets below during December, but will also be at others, so check their website or social media for updates or ask them directly while you are there. If you would like Wrappaporium at your market or event, please go ahead and contact them. (There is enough recycled paper and fabric to go around!)Cost of wrapping is just a gold coin and all gold coin donations for the wrapping service will be used to support small Australian social enterprises that are making a difference in the community and to the environment. Goodsmiths will donate whatever they raise, and a minimum of $1000, to one or more enterprises who can convince them that they have an awesome project to deliver impact. The Wrappaporium is also in search of elves to help make their gifts look their festive best, while playing an important part in the fight against climate change. Volunteers are needed to help cut the fabrics into ribbons, and wrapping at markets, fetes and events over the next six weeks. Events in December so far:
In launching the Wrappaporium (during National Recycling Week), Goodsmiths’ Co-Founder Clifford Moss says: “We can choose to wrap our gifts in reclaimed paper and beautiful fabric off-cuts so our presents still look great while making Christmas that little bit more joyful and bearable for the planet. And why shouldn’t mother nature get a gift this Christmas too. It is the season of goodwill, after all.”
