MANRAGS are collecting old clothing in exchange for socks

Now we are holed up at home for the foreseeable future, some people are turning to their sock drawers. Literally

MANRAGS are sock sellers and for the last 6 months, they have been collecting old and odd socks from homes around Australia saving over 13,000 kg of textiles from landfill in that short time. This week MANRAGS announced that they will now also recycle your clothes and collect old, damaged or unwanted clothing and shoes from your front door in exchange for socks. Actually, it's a kind of sock voucher (or undies).

Participating in the Clothing Recycling Collection costs $25, which is fully redeemable on MANRAGS' product in the form of a $25 credit. The fee allows up to 10kg of clean textiles to be collected from your front door, including things like old t-shirts, jeans, baby clothes, socks and even shoes.

“AUSTRALIANS ARE DUMPING 953KG OF TEXTILES INTO LANDFILL EVERY SINGLE MINUTE AND OF THIS NUMBER 95% COULD HAVE BEEN REUSED, REPURPOSED OR RECYCLED. SO RATHER THAN TOSSING OUT DAMAGED OR THREADBARE ITEMS THAT YOUR LOCAL OP SHOP CAN’T ACCEPT, SEND THEM TO US AND WE’LL PREPARE THEM FOR THEIR SECOND LIFE.”

Items must be clean, so it is recommended to give them a quick wash prior to packing them into a suitable box or package. When you’re ready, simply reach out to MANRAGS who will send you a label to attach and a date that the courier will retrieve the items from your doorstep.
