WBGS opens a drive thru

The World’s Biggest Garage Sale just went contactless, with a drive-thru to drop off your unwanted goods

Since the start of 2020, World’s Biggest Garage Sale (WBGS) has received over 20-tonnes of high-quality, but slightly imperfect stock from Officeworks. WBGS work with Officeworks to repair and repurpose imperfect furniture and give it an extended life, keeping it out of landfill and giving communities access to premium goods at lower prices.

With COVID-19, they are now extending their service to the Brisbane community. If you have been decluttering during the lockdown and are looking for a place to send all unwanted your stuff, you can now drive-thru and drop off at their new warehouse in Morningside.

Previously, WBGS operated major single-day sale events, diverting over 3.3-million kgs of goods from landfill, but with current COVID-19 restrictions in place, like many event based businesses, they have had to change their business model to online sales and contactless drop off service.

Australians have an estimated $43 billion worth of unused, dormant goods sitting in our homes. If you want to give your dormant goods second, third, and fourth life, pass them on to WBGS, who guarantee they won’t end up in landfill or be shipped off to another country.

All goods will go through a comprehensive resource recovery process which may include renew, repair and repurpose, before being ready for resale.

As a social enterprise, WBGS also provide employment opportunities for vulnerable and disadvantaged Australians.
