Outland Denim are Equity Crowdfunding on Birchal

Zero Exploitation fashion brand Outland Denim, has raised nearly $1.05 million on Birchal with 10 days to go

Outland Denim are equity crowdfunding and now anyone can be part of their Zero Exploitation brand. Outland began 3 years ago as an avenue for training, employment, and creating careers for young women who have experienced exploitation, human trafficking and other human rights violations.

Fast forward to today and Outland Denim now have 100 employees from varying backgrounds of vulnerability and social injustice and they have helped shift many people into prosperity via skills acquisition, living wages and education.

Why are Outland Denim crowdfunding?

You might recall Outland Denim were 'those jeans' that Megan chose to wear on her Aussie tour while still a royal and they are now in stores across the world like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale as well as David Jones in Australia.

Outland Denim are equity crowdfunding on Birchal to expand their social justice program through the brand. The money they raise will be used to expand their sales and marketing and to pivot into producing garments for other brands under the name ‘Maeka’. Global fashion label Karen Walker has already begun working with Maeka, with product already in development.

In the fastest equity crowd raise ever on Birchal, they have already raised over $1.05million with about 10 days remaining in the campaign so you still have a chance to invest for as little as $250.

Who is investing? Over 70% of the Birchal campaign's new investors are female. 89% of investors are Australian, primarily based in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, with 25 - 44 year olds making up the largest percentage of investors.

What is Equity Crowdfunding?

In case you aren't aware, Equity crowdfunding follows a similar process to conventional crowdfunding, but results in contributors receiving shares in the company. Of the raise so far, Outland Denim founding CEO James Bartle says:

“WE ARE SO HUMBLED BY THE SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN HAS RECEIVED AMIDST THE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CHALLENGES WE ARE ALL FACING DUE TO COVID-19. I CANNOT THANK ENOUGH EVERYONE WHO HAS BACKED THIS BRAND AND BECOME A PART OF THE OUTLAND DENIM FAMILY.”
